This training addresses the basic knowledge of service and treatment. This is so that you can give your guests the best experience. A successful restaurant visit is not just good food and drink – what makes a returning guest is above all good service! The expert person Ulrika Karlsson, creative leader at the Restaurant Academy, goes through everything from preparation before the guests arrive until the guests have left the restaurant. ”How do you set a table”, ”from which side should you serve the guest”, ”how do you carry a plate”, are some of the questions you will get answered during the training.

About the education

In the education, you as a student get basic knowledge in service and hospitality – Ulrika goes through the entire flow – from hospitality and craftsmanship at the table to when the guest leaves the restaurant. The training leads to both increased self-confidence and increased sales!

The training is aimed at the entire staff of a restaurant that wants to improve its service level and deliver smoother and more equal service. The training is also excellent for you as a private person who wants knowledge of serving rules.

The educator is the restaurateur, sommelier and wine writer Ulrika Karlsson who works as a creative leader for the educations in beverage and dining work at the Restaurant Academy. Ulrika also runs Kraka’s restaurant on Gotland and is known for her solid knowledge in service and sales, two subjects that she also teaches on site at the Restaurant Academy.

Teacher-led films

The entire education includes teacher-led films. This means that a teacher explains to you in a simple and clear way.

The teacher tells in a clear and distinct voice. The information that the teacher tells you is important and you can rewind both forwards and backwards in the films at any time. You can watch the films and questions as many times as you want during your training period, even when the tests have been completed.


After each film, a sample is presented. These samples have a barrier of 90%. This means that you must be at least 90% right before you can continue in the education. That is, by passing a partial exam, you unlock the next part of the education.

The tests consist of questions and answer alternatives. You choose the right answer by clicking in your choice. For some questions, several answer options may be correct and you will then need to click on several options.

Towards the end of your education, you will take a final exam where your knowledge will be tested again.

Course Certificate / Diploma

After completing your education with us at, you will receive a course certificate, which you save in pdf format. This document shows that you have a quality-assured education in the Service basic course.
